Alexa Rank Vs Google Page Rank - Which is Better?

Many website owners get caught up in the influence of these two factors. The truth what do we all really want from our website, traffic or income or both… Okay so let’s at both of these ranking algorithm’s… Both of them use an algorithm that factors certain elements to come up with a number or value. General factors include traffic, web site quality, back link ratio, content and other mysteries (joking) lol…

First let’s look at Page Rank…
Page Rank is a number Google puts on websites to rank what they consider to be quality. However Page Rank can be manipulated by web owners and rarer unique web sites generally rank better than a competitive field. While page rank is a smart algorithm it can be easily measured as false reading of a website quality and also occasionally the algorithm can ban certain websites that have high value for mentioning a few triggered words somewhere in there website.

These words may mean nothing or are harmless but to a computer algorithm script it doesn’t know full judgement so occasionally website owners fall into this category. A good example is this blog, a few months ago it was PR 5 but for some reason now is Pr 0. However this blog receives more traffic than ever before… Maybe it will come back soon, who knows…

Second is Alexa Rank…
Alexa Rank is much more accurate number for a website, that can be slightly manipulated but not as much as PR. If you have a really low Alexa rank you are receiving good traffic, you cannot hide that… Some elements can influence the number, eg toolbar or traffic exchanges however it is a better indication of website presence.

Alexa Rank Vs Google Page Rank Conclusion…
The biggest overall difference is Alexa never lies or penalises rank based on website factors. Also Alexa rank can rank way further than page rank as the number can go into the millions to as low as 1 like Yahoo or Google. Another major difference of Page Rank compared to Alexa Rank is Alexa ranks all based on no prejudice, just traffic and quality while Google only ranks on what the Google Algorithm wants. If the algorithm doesn’t like your site even if it is good it can give you zero… Google Page Rank is also not based on traffic levels as you can see from many examples on the Internet.

In the end don’t become too confused by Google Page Rank, Alexa Rank says a lot about a website.
